Everything You Need To Know About Korean Beauty

It’s something that has been trending for a while, but what really is Korean beauty? It’s an umbrella term for any beauty products with the Korean beauty philosophy in mind, meaning that their products are meant to have a positive long-term impact on your skin. Their products aren’t just to fix that odd spot for a few weeks, but to revolutionise your skin care and makeup selection.

Korean Beauty also means adapting your skin care to your skin type. Their products are buildable and versatile – they don’t just do cute little blushers (although we do love them), but more of toners, serums and masks that will give you a dewy and flawless complexion. What more could you want?

K-Beauty is renowned for its 10-step beauty regime – this sounds exhausting, but it’s a lot simpler than you think. Plus, your skin will thank you for it!

Step 1 – Oil cleanse

Start the cleansing process by using an oil cleanser. It rejuvenates your skin, and will give you a healthy complexion. It is also the perfect product for getting rid of any leftover makeup and is perfect for all skin types. Its light formula is easy and soothing on the skin. Apply it to your dry face and let it work its magic. Then, add water and it will become a milky product that can be rinsed straight off.

Step 2 – Water cleanse

Part two of the cleaning process will be a water cleanser, that won’t strip your skin of its natural oils. Opt for a foaming water cleanser that will help brighten your skin and give it a natural glow. These kinds of products are gentle on the skin and keep it hydrated. Say goodbye to the leftovers of your busy day, and say hello silky smooth skin!

Step 3 – Exfoliator

Exfoliate to remove those dead skin cells and have refreshed skin. This will allow your skin cells to naturally receive more of your natural oils and leave it hydrated and nourished. This doesn’t need to be done every day, but just when you feel your skin needs to breathe a little.

Step 4 – Hydrate

Use a hydrating toner which will help speed up the hydrating process and help balance out your pH. Toners are often overlooked, but they are one of the saviours of your beauty regime. You will have radiant skin in no time at all!

Step 5 – Essence

Essence is another key to speeding up the hydration process. It will help your skin look its best, as well as allowing it to fight against skin irritation and dry skin. Essence go way beyond your average moisturiser. To make the most of your product, get your essence as a serum and pump it into your hands before applying it gently to your face.

Step 6 – Face Oils

Use a face oil especially designed for your skin type – whether you suffer from dry, oily or neutral skin, you can fight your skin woes with a made-to-measure product. They should be applied by pressing on the face rather than rubbing it in – no one wants greasy skin! Follow one of the Korean Beauty principles – apply a little and build up if needed.

Step 7 – Masks

Masks are a must-have for any beauty geek. There is one to suit every skin type and plus, you can make it into a real pamper session. See it as food for your face – just like your body, your skin needs to get its nutrients. Make sure a mask is part of your beauty regime at least twice a week to make the most of the benefits. Leave on for 10 minutes before rinsing.

Step 8 – Eye Cream

Eye cream is often forgotten within our beauty routines, but your eyes need some love, and especially if you tend to wear a lot of eye makeup. It will also help you fight dark circles and treats those sensitive areas. Your eyes go under a lot of strain, and you need to look after them!

Step 9 – Moisturiser

A moisturiser is the perfect way to start or end the day – like face masks, moisturisers nourish your skin. You will prevent dryness, slow the signs of ageing and protect your skin from the sun. Your skin won’t flake, and everyone will want to know your secret.

Step 10 – SPF

Regular use of SPF will help prevent premature ageing like skin sagging and wrinkles. Not only does it protect your skin from the sunlight. No matter the number of SPF, apply it every two hours to all exposed skin for healthy, sun-damage free skin!
